The Aero Club

The Aero Club — a 240-home residential development in the heart of Wellington — attracts successful business owners, entrepreneurs and professionals.

But what’s interesting about this well-known aviation community, say Realtors and homeowners, is when it was built, and how it was mapped out.

“These guys were really ahead of their times.”

Designed in the late 1970s and built in the early 1980s, Aero Club is the brainchild of some of Wellington’s earliest movers and shakers, Guerry Stribling. Arthur “Bink” Glisson and the town’s namesake, C. Oliver Wellington. But coming up with the idea for an aviation community back then and realizing that it would be in the thick of town once Wellington “grew up,” remains impressive, all these years later, according to locals.
